Total Qualification Time (TQT)
Total Qualification Time is the number of notional hours which represents an estimate of the total amount of time that could reasonably be expected to be required in order for a learner to achieve and demonstrate the achievement of the level of attainment necessary for the award of a qualification.
Total Qualification Time comprises:
the Guided Learning Hours for the qualification
an estimate of the number of hours a learner will reasonably be likely to spend in preparation, study or any other form of participation in education or training, including assessment, which takes place as directed by – but not under the immediate guidance or supervision of – a lecturer, supervisor, Tutor or other appropriate provider of education or training.
Aims and objectives of this qualification
This qualification aims to:
allow learners to develop the generic knowledge and understanding essential for working in a supervisory role within the hospitality sector, such as leading a team and supervising operations in a hospitality environment
The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to:
progress to employment in a supervisory or management role in the hospitality sector
develop their existing knowledge and gain valuable skills in leadership and management.
To be awarded the NCFE Level 3 Award in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership Principles, learners are required to successfully complete 3 mandatory units.
Mandatory units
Unit 01 Principles of leading a team in the hospitality industry
Unit 02 Supervision of operations in the hospitality industry
Unit 03 Principles of supervising customer service performance in hospitality leisure travel and tourism
To achieve the NCFE Level 3 Award in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership Principles, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units as detailed in this qualification specification.
This qualification is designed for learners who already work in the hospitality industry and want to develop their existing knowledge and understanding or progress to a leadership role.
There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 2 qualification.
Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners should be aged 16 or above to undertake this qualification.
